Well, it's about that time. We leave Homer tomorrow to begin our journey to California. We aren't saying goodbye, just "See you later." We will be back, whether it's with the Coast Guard or otherwise. We just love this little community at the end of the road. We pick up The Nana in Anchorage and then we'll be on our way. Here's a little rundown of our stops:
Homer to Anchorage: 220 miles
Anchorage to Tok, AK: 320 miles
Tok, AK to Haines, AK (passing through Canada): 440 miles
Haines, AK to Bellingham, WA: aboard the AK Marine Highway (the ferry!) for 3.5 days
Bellingham, WA to Portland, OR: 265 miles. Extra day here--Oregon winery tour for The Nana and Mike, and probably the Oregon Zoo for the kiddos
Portland, OR to Crescent City, CA: 320 miles
Crescent City, CA to Garberville, CA: 110 miles. We will take it slow to explore Redwood National Park
Garberville, CA to Alameda, CA: 210 miles. Home!
I will be posting our daily adventures whenever we have an internet connection. If you have any suggestions along our route, please let us know! Restaurants, attractions, pit stops, etc. all welcome! We have never gone this route past Tok, so it is all new to us. Let the adventure begin!
